Work
I work as an independent freelancer with an office at home and anywhere there might be wireless internet. Although I spent many years in the corporate environment, climbing the proverbial ladder, I prefer the flexibility and responsibility of working independently. I enjoy handling projects from start to finish, and gain an equal amount of satisfaction from the creative side (the design) and the technical side of the work.
Most of my work is web work (design and maintenance of web sites) although I also produce a substantial amount of print work as well. I am often reminded of that part at the bottom of job descriptions that says, "Other duties as assigned". I am happy to say that many of my clients have the confidence in me to request other design / print-related work as well. This includes projects like newsletters, brochures, business cards, forms, etc.
Tools
I am fluent in all of the tools I use, which include the Adobe CS3 Design Suite (which includes InDesign, Flash, Dreamweaver and Photoshop), I use valid CSS for layout. I'm proficient in the entire MS Office Suite, and use MS Expression Web as my file manager (although I code and write everything from scratch).
Life
Hopefully, it doesn't all end there with the computer and the latest work project. I admit it is often very difficult to unplug, especially if something is working out as intended. In the hours of life that are not spent working, I am the homeschooling mother of two daughters ages 13 (almost) and 6, and all that it entails. Two nights a week you can find the three of us down at the local DoJang practicing TaeKwonDo. I am also bi-lingual (I speak Italian fluently) and enjoy much of the Italian culture and lifestyle (and just hanging out at cafés drinking coffee.)
